I&J Metal Fabrications is seeking a Steel Fabrication Working Shop Foreman to complement our skilled team in Abbotsford BC. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to continue their career with a reputable, growing organization.

This position requires an experienced and detail-focused individual. The ideal candidate will have a background in fabrication and welding and have the drive, organizational skills, and leadership skills required to lead a dedicated team of metal fabricators.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Manage work in progress and maintain shop production schedule
• Ensure all tasks are completed safely and efficiently, meeting delivery expectations
• Ensure that all company and industry regulated quality standards are maintained
• Ensure welding quality meets company standards on all jobs
• Work extended hours as per job requirements
• Completion of Quality Control checks and forms as required

Requirements:

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry
• Strong leadership, supervisory, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to meet challenging deadlines in an efficient and profitable manner
• Exercise sound judgement and maintain a professional demeanor
• Some basic computer knowledge - MS Outlook and MS Excel
• Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings
• Strong welding knowledge and application - SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW/MCAW.
• Ability to recommend proper procedures for specific jobs and provide guidance to employees
• CWB Welding Ticket an asset
• CWB Welding Supervisor Course an asset
• Journeyperson Trade Certification an asset

Purpose:
To assist the senior detailer in the preparation of shop drawings using Tekla Structures and other CAD related programs,
assisting in sequencing projects and preparing material list for order.  To being part of an established team and an important member of that team in helping to continue the company’s growth.

 Education and Experience:

• Grade 12 diploma
• Post-secondary education (preferred but not necessary)
• One to three years’ experience (preferred but not necessary)

Licenses, Certificates:

• Valid BC driver’s license
• College diploma (preferred but not necessary)

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with fellow employees.
• Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, drawings and plans.
• Great attention to detail.
• Great organizational skills.
• Ability to retain and transfer information.
• Good sound mathematical skills.
• Excellent computer skills and the ability to learn software programs.

• Prepare 3D models using Tekla Structures
• Prepare shop fabrication drawings

scheduling and documentation as required. To assist in building relationships with existing and new
